Camille Romagnani's approach is rooted in listening to the world, where matter becomes a language of life. Working with ceramics, paper, and gleanings, she seeks a form of attention, dialogue, and care in her craft. Her practice, both sensory and reflective, questions the possibility of restorative creation, capable of reweaving the broken links between the earth and those who inhabit it.

At the heart of her work, matter is never neutral: it carries the memory of places, gestures, and living beings. Camille envisions her works as organisms in relation to one another—forms that support, assemble, and regenerate each other. This approach, nourished by an ecological and poetic consciousness, makes each sculpture an attempt at reconciliation and empathy.

With her project Harvest – Récolte, she continues her research into seeds, sculptural matrices and symbols of the balance between fragility and resilience. Each seed becomes a promise, a trace, or a breath—evoking the vitality of living things, their metamorphoses, and their invisible interconnections.

In residence in Rhodes island, her project Dama Dama Tears further expands this reflection by weaving a dialogue with the Mediterranean landscape. Inspired by medicinal plants, burnt forests, polluted seas, and the mythical figures of the Dama Dama deer, Camille questions the notion of healing: no longer as a repair imposed on nature, but as an act of mutual care, a reciprocity between living beings and humans. Her ceramics thus become offerings, gestures of reparation in the face of the world's wounds.

In the spirit of Bruno Latour's Parliament of Things, her work seeks to give voice to those who have none—soil, seeds, fire, wind, thousand-year-old olive trees—in order to relearn how to listen. Between the gentleness of care and the power of fire, between destruction and regeneration, Camille Romagnani makes creation an act of hope.

About Camille
